Pension Nuggets

This program is designed to cover a wide variety of retirement plan topics by subject matter experts in the insurance and retirement consulting fields. Each panelist will be allotted 20 minutes followed by a Q&A session.  The presentations will be fast-paced with lots of opportunity for dialogue throughout.

Topic 1: Voluntary Correction Program

Mistakes in retirement plans can – and do – happen.   The Voluntary Correction Program (VCP) helps plan sponsors protect participant benefits and keep their plans compliant with the Internal Revenue Code requirements.

Jan Cameron, Partner, with Temen, Kaiser & Cameron, CPA's, will outline her experience with compliance reviews for plan sponsors, "fix-it kits", and best practices for sponsors.

Jan Cameron has specialized in qualified plan administration, governance and compliance since 1989 and has extensive experience in both the large plan and small plan markets.  She provides qualified plan compliance oversight services and comprehensive compliance review services to many large publicly traded firms.  Her niche specialty is working with large multinational employers that have a mobile workforce.  She is often called upon by clients and ERISA counselors to assist with forensic work, specialty testing and historical filings.

Topic 2: Next Generation Communications

Leadership development has become bogged down in complex processes, unrealistic expectations and outdated thinking.  What leaders require most, especially in our highly diverse, multi-cultural world are simple, just-in-time methods to face pressure, stress and opportunity with new insight and skill.  We need not look any farther than the timeless wisdom of the martial arts practice of Aikido.  Dale Biron, Certified Leadership Coach, Aikido Black Belt, and Story-Telling Poet, will discuss Black Belt Secrets for Leaders Who Want to Create a Culture of Extreme Performance.

During Dale’s discussion, you’ll learn how this and other martial principles apply to your own leadership. You’ll learn how to recover faster, allowing you to break through personal blocks to higher levels of success. Dale will illustrate the three critical shifts required: from overwhelm to simplicity, from perfectionism to recover-ism and from isolation to connection.

Dale Biron works with leaders and senior managers up to CEO's helping them reach their next level of performance and success. As a certified leadership coach, Aikido black belt and story-telling poet, he is known for his potent blend of leadership tools combined with inspiring stories, practical roadmaps and illuminating metaphors drawn from the arts: coaching, martial and poetic. Dale’s approach to coaching leaders and teams is based on 3 simple core principles learned in his 15-year black belt journey and applying them as a leader of a national sales team, entrepreneur and leadership coach. His industry experience spans professional services, high technology, banking and family-owned businesses. His success in increasing teamwork, productivity and motivation has gained him short and long-term coaching and consulting engagements.
